February 2015 in photos

Here we are with our monthly appointment with my "random" photos, the ones who doesn't belong to a specific event, like a gig or a trip to somewhere.

February it was short but decently productive, not mad busy, as I had only a gig (but as you probably noticed I don't do many gigs anymore, for reasons that one day I'll explain), and I had the chance to go out for a sunrise shooting, but the day is starting earlier everyday, and it's not as easy as in December where you could get up quite "late" for photographs at the sunrise.
Anyway, there's not much else to say, apart showing some of the best random photos I took last month, and to link to the full set on my flickr account.

Hawk Cliff, Dalkey (again)

That was probably the fourth or fifth time I came to this place, I’ve already blogged about Hawk Cliff more than a year and half ago, and it’s definitely one of my favourite places in Dublin metropolitan area, and I’ll never get sick to go there. And when my friends asked me where we could go for another early morning photography session, that’s was my first choice. It’s just an outstanding place to visit everytime, and if you get there at the sunset, it’s just out of this world, where you can see the whole Sorrento Bay (no, I’m not talking about Italy, but the bay from Dalkey to Bray is called the Sorrento Bay as it looks similar to the Italian counterpart). Also you can meet some interesting person, those hardcore irish people that loves to swim in this tiny place, yes even on January at sunset, and some of them don’t even have a swimsuit. I honestly admire these people that despite the cold, despite the weather, despite the fact that the sea is not exactly like the Mauritius, they still come, at the very least a couple of times per week, to swim.
Anyway, there’s nothing else to say about this place, and I better let the pictures talk about Hawk Cliff, so down here some of the best, while you can find the full set on my flickr account as usual.

November 2014 in photos

I'm super in late, in the past few weeks I've been super busy, did two photo shoots, with subsequential time spent with photoshop, plus I spent several days in between Xmas parties, Xmas shopping and cooking/baking, so didn't really have much time to dedicate to the blog, and unfortunately not much time for photography as well apart the photo shoots.
And to be honest in the past few months I didn't have much time for street photography or even random photos. But I had a couple of days of good photos, so I can say that I was low in quantity but hopefully high in quality :-)

Anyway, down here you can find some of the best photos I took last month, while on flickr you can find the full set, and the other two sets, one for the photos I took in Skerries and the other one from the photos I took in Wicklow.

September 2014 in photos

I know, I know, I did write only one post last month, shame on me! But it has been an odd month for me. Unfortunately I had to find a new job as the company I've been working for the past 6 and half years closed down, so I had to concentrate to find a new job soon, then I had a long pile of photos to develop, mostly the ones I took in Iceland, and a photoshoot I had to do for an argentinian artists (which I'm going to talk soon). I had to skip my monthly appointment in august because apart from the photos I took in Iceland, I didn't shoot anything else that month, and I'm going to publish the pictures I took on my trip on a specific post, when I'll find the time to write it, as it's going to be a looooong one (I shot about 5500 photos in two weeks!).
Anyway, for September I've some new random photos, and some of them are part of my photo project "Commute" which I wrote about previously, and now I've create a specific section on my brand new website for that specific project.
Down here you can see some of the best photos I took in September, and as usual feel free to leave any comments/critiques or even to say "Hello" or "Ciao" :-)

You Me At Six @ Royal Hospital Kilmainham

That's a band I've missed their gigs in Dublin a few times for one reason or another, but this time they were supporting Biffy Clyro at one of the many outdoor gigs this summer in the beautiful frame of the Royal  Hospital Kilmainham.

I'm definitely not in the target of this band, I'm too old for them or they are too young for me, but I have to say that they are an interesting band to see, very energetic on stage and very dynamic band. From a photography point of view it was good to photograph, even if was shot in daylight so the stage lights were pretty useless and barely visible, and for once I couldn't complain for the lack of lights, but maybe for the abundance of it, the sunlight was the key light and I could shoot at 400 ISO, and I could use shutterspeed of 1/2000 with f/4 or higher, but even if I could use smaller aperture I always prefer to bring down the ISO and have confy shutterspeeds and keep shooting at wider aperture like f/2.8 or f/4 where I can have incredible sharpness from the main lens I used for that gig (the Canon 135mm f/2 USM L) and at the same time a decent Bokeh and have a good separation between the subject and the background.
Anyway, interesting gig to photograph, and I'm pretty sure that it would be the same, or maybe even better if shot in a normal venue where the stage lights dictates the show, I would say it's a gig aupair with Fall Out Boy and All Time Low.

Anyway, as usual you can find some of the best shots I took at their gig, while on my flickr account you can find the full set.
